\nZeolite extraction sites in the Petrota-Trigono area of Orestiada, where vast reserves of high-quality natural zeolite have been identified, were visited by the newly elected Regional Governor of Eastern Macedonia \u2013 Thrace, Mr Giorgos Pavlidis, accompanied by the Deputy Regional Governor of Evros, Mr Dimitris Petrovi\u0107, and regional councillors.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur presence here, at the site where a rare rock formation has been discovered \u2013 a treasure for our country and for Europe, found in vast quantities \u2013 has three objectives,\u201d noted Mr Pavlidis, and explained:<\/p>\n

\u201cFirstly, to raise the profile of our Region\u2019s natural zeolite, the Thracian Zeolite.<\/p>\n

<\/a>Secondly, to emphasise our resolve that the time has come for its widespread utilisation for the benefit of development, the environment, the economy and the residents of the entire Region, with processing taking place here.<\/p>\n

Thirdly, its exploitation must offer commensurate benefits to the local area, at all levels of local government\u2019.<\/p>\n
