27th German Zeolite Conference – 27. Deutsche Zeolith-Tagung

27th German Zeolite Conference – 27th Deutsche Zeolith-Tagung

The 27th German Zeolite Conference will take place alongside the annual meeting of the Adsorption Section from 25 to 27 February 2015 on the Haarentor Campus of the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg. Organised by DECHEMA e.V., it is hosted by the Department of Technical Chemistry at the Institute of Chemistry, in collaboration with the ProcessNet specialist groups on Zeolites and Adsorption. In addition to zeolites, which historically gave this annual conference its name, the range of porous materials with defined structures has now expanded considerably. Microporous metal-organical framework compounds (crystalline coordination polymers) as well as silica-, organosilica-, metal oxide- and carbon-based mesoporous and macroporous materials are now available in an enormous variety. These materials greatly expand the range of applications; this extends from energy storage and energy conversion, through sensor technology, to applications in medical technology, the pharmaceutical and chemical industries, and even the consumer goods industry.

Substance separation and catalysis remain key areas of focus; adsorption and diffusion processes are of fundamental importance. For this reason, as in 2006, 2009 and 2012, the Adsorption and Zeolites specialist groups are once again organising a joint scientific programme which, through a mix of fundamental and application-oriented presentations, will cover the most diverse aspects of porous materials (synthesis, modification, characterisation, industrial application).

In keeping with our long-standing tradition, the event will once again provide a forum for young researchers in particular to present their work in the form of short talks and posters. It is our aim to initiate a lively exchange of ideas amongst early-career researchers, including with representatives from industry.

The university city and former capital of the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg is, with a population of approximately 160,000, the third-largest city in Lower Saxony. The university is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2014; in 2009, Oldenburg was designated the ‘City of Sciences’. The Carl von Ossietzky University shapes the western part of the city with the Haarentor Campus, where the conference will take place, and the Wechloy Campus for the natural sciences.

We, as the organising committee, look forward to welcoming you to Oldenburg in February 2015.
