Food for Newborns – Nikos Lygeros (poem)
On the farm
, the ‘stone of life’
became food for the newborn
calves to protect
them from disease
during this vulnerable period
; so every handful
in our
hands was an act
of care for the calves
who longed tobe
freed
from the confinement
of attacks
; that is why every movement
was also a step
towards humanity
protecting
other lives.
