US and Dutch researchers identify chemical transformations in zeolites

US and Netherlands researchers identify chemical transformations in zeolites Researchers from the Department of Energy’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), UOP and Netherlands-based Utrecht University have found a way to understand chemical transformations occurring within zeolites. Zeolites are crystalline solid structures made up of aluminium, silicon, and oxygen atoms, and are used to convert oil to gasoline. They are also used as catalysts to process petroleum and chemicals. The new technique allows the identification of the spots where chemical reactions occur ,and how these spots shut down. These spots are said to facilitate molecules rip apart and rearrange as they ... Read more

zeolite – N. Lygeros

zeolite will make a difference in Greece and for Greece only and solely if our own people believe in it and put it into practice realising that they are helping our homeland because everything else is of no concern to us; what matters is development for the people, with respect for the environment, because we want future generations to live freely, just as we do. The innovative power of zeolite – N. Lygeros Whilst some of us wonder whether we can change reality through innovation, we now have a tangible example in Giorgos Georgiadis and his company, OLYMPOS S.A. For not only did the two of them believe in a vision for the Greece of the future, but they also took the risk of putting that discovery into practice. And that is where the difference lies. It is one thing to believe, and quite another to remain faithful to the vision of zeolite. The choice of the Kokkalos area, next to Petrota, was made without ... Read more
