Skouries in essence – N. Lygeros
Firstly, the unacceptable chemical extraction of gold must be stopped as soon as possible. Secondly, this has nothing to do with any promise, but with the fact that it is devastating for the environment and, more importantly, that it is irreversible. Thirdly, the exact number of workers is irrelevant; what matters is what alternative work we can offer them, and the answer is zeolite. Read the rest here: Lygeros.org
Strategic questions – N. Lygeros
We must ask strategic questions not at party level, but at national level. It is Greece that must have a high-level strategy. Now that we see that even at the level of the Prime Minister, clear reference is being made to the fact that leaving the euro without any possibility of financial support would mean rapid devaluation, harsh austerity and a renewed appeal to the International Monetary Fund for currency support, there is no need to wonder any longer what we are going to do in this regard. If you didn’t know, just ask! N. Lygeros
When we still hear people trying to justify their current position, despite having previously promised that chemical gold mining at Skouries would cease, saying that we must also consider the workers, this only serves to highlight the lack of awareness at the very highest level. Why can’t they consider that if the workers had jobs in a quarry mining zeolite, for example, the destruction of nature would cease that very same day? Read the rest here: lygeros.org

The concept of utilisation – N. Lygeros
When we see the hesitation and red tape with which we approach the issue of utilising our mineral wealth, we wonder whether this notion of reliability does not conflict with the notion of abundance. We see a similar phenomenon when it comes to the development of our archaeological sites, where everyone regards them as their own private fiefdom and we fail to operate effectively. Abroad, when you find three stones or a tooth, they make use of them immediately, because they recognise their value and the benefits that this knowledge brings to others. We, who have thousands of finds and ... Read more
Greek zeolites and government departments – N. Lygeros
The growth that Greek zeolite has the potential to bring to Thrace, and indeed to Greece as a whole, is significant and must be recognised by the government departments responsible for assessing the validity of the entire process. Of course, we are not talking solely about the 8 per cent that constitutes the Greek state’s revenue from each quarry, since zeolite, as a rock, falls into this category. But more generally, both domestically and abroad. Because, at present, zeolites are imported. Thus, the extraction of Greek zeolite will initially lead to cost savings and subsequently foster an outward-looking approach, bringing ... Read more
Zeolite: Country of origin: Greece – Nikos Lygeros
When every Greek sees the words ‘Clinoptilolite’ printed on the 25-kilo sacks of zeolite, Country of origin: Greece, they will continue to find it hard to believe, even though the miracle will have come to pass, because it is already being prepared to become a reality. Thus, even those who remain sceptical now, after years of campaigning to promote this strategic issue at a national level. Even the Thracians who did not fight for this cause will feel bad when the first benefits reach their region, since in the battle over zeolite they stood against us, not out of malice, ... Read more
The map of Greek zeolite – Nikos Lygeros
However inconceivable it may seem to most Greeks, the map of Greek zeolite is beginning to take shape on paper. It is not merely a vision but a tangible reality. And it all began with G. Georgiadis, who continues his work for our country undeterred, overcoming each obstacle one by one to showcase our mineral wealth. So you no longer need your imagination to visualise the green areas where Greek zeolite is found; you simply need to look at a map that sets an example for everyone. For the determination that turns into perseverance also highlights the greatness of the ... Read more
From words to deeds – N. Lygeros
During the negotiations, we saw plenty of talk but little action. Now we have very few opportunities to take meaningful action. And as it is actions, not gestures, that determine our course, these must be taken with great care to ensure they have a strategic foundation, because we must then support them in practice. We are not now dealing with party statements, proposals or counter-proposals, but with national decisions being taken against a backdrop of retrenchment. These actions are therefore decisive. Consequently, we must not view them as proof that a crisis has ended, but as the beginning of a ... Read more
The revival of Greek morale – N. Lygeros
The revival of Greek morale must be a priority, because it affects everything from the economy and politics right through to our strategy. Greece occupies a geopolitical position of great value and significance; yet a sense of gloom paralyses so many factors that very few people are addressing these issues. Misery has no grandeur and does not help Greece. It is therefore essential that we overcome this situation by going the extra mile. It is not enough to talk about brutality when you do absolutely nothing to avoid being exposed. Because no one will follow you in this inaction. Here ... Read more
Strategic Resources – N. Lygeros
In our strategy, we operate with the resources we have, not with those we would like to have, because that is the reality. We do not operate on the basis of what might be desirable. Amidst all the changes we are witnessing, we must create a stable framework that serves as a point of reference not merely for citizens but for the Greek people as a whole, so that they realise that, ultimately, there is a general course that remains uncompromising. Revolutions are not made by revolutionaries but by revolutionary thinking. A major change that will stand the test of ... Read more
