In conversation with Nikos Lygeros on 104.4fm.gr
Featuring Nikos Lygeros, a multi-talented researcher, a scientific collaborator with universities, a specialist adviser even to prime ministers and presidents, with expertise ranging from the use of zeolite in agriculture to contemporary geopolitical manoeuvres, we had the opportunity to speak for a short while on Thursday morning (4 August), in the welcoming surroundings of the Peripou multi-purpose venue. As the conversation progressed, we realised it could have gone on for hours, so we limited ourselves to topics such as hydrocarbons, geopolitics and Turkey.
Mr Lygeros and his colleagues were in Agios Nikolaos to brief a group of producers on the methods and uses of zeolite, so shortly before that we had the chance to have a brief chat, trying to understand a different perspective on things in relation to current analyses of where our country and the world in general are heading. And how Cyprus had been making progress, step by step, on the issue of hydrocarbons, despite changes in government, having had a clear policy for years, in contrast to Greece.
He spoke to us about the hydrocarbons south of Crete and in the Ionian Sea, about DAES, or rather what we mistakenly call the Islamic State, about Istanbul, about internal pressures within Turkey and other matters…
