Zeolite: a source of wealth for the country, innovation in agricultural sciences – N. Lygeros
Lecture by Professor Nikos Lygeros on the topic ‘Zeolite : wealth for the country, innovation in Agricultural Sciences. Exclusive Economic Zone’. Cultural Centre of the Holy Metropolis of Demetrias and Almyros, Volos. 28 January 2017
In conversation with Nikos Lygeros on 104.4fm.gr
Featuring Nikos Lygeros, a multi-talented researcher, a scientific collaborator with universities, a specialist adviser even to prime ministers and presidents, with expertise ranging from the use of zeolite in agriculture to contemporary geopolitical manoeuvres, we had the opportunity to speak for a short while on Thursday morning (4 August), in the welcoming surroundings of the Peripou multi-purpose venue. As the conversation progressed, we realised it could have gone on for hours, so we limited ourselves to topics such as hydrocarbons, geopolitics and Turkey. Mr Lygeros and his colleagues were in Agios Nikolaos to brief a group of producers on the ... Read more

Zeolites may fuel efficient hydrocarbon refining processes – “Predicted” zeolites may fuel efficient processes
“Predicted” zeolites may fuel efficient processes | Zeolite.gr Scientists at Rice Univ. and the Univ. of Minnesota have identified synthetic materials that may purify ethanol more efficiently and greatly improve the separation of long-chain hydrocarbons in petroleum refining. The results show that predictive modeling of synthetic zeolites, a technique pioneered by Rice bioengineer Michael Deem, is highly effective and can help solve some of the most challenging problems facing industries that require efficient ways to separate or catalyze materials. Deem is co-author of a new study led by Univ. of Minnesota chemist Ilja Siepmann that appeared in Nature Communications. Zeolites ... Read more
