The decision has been made. Hellenic Zeolite is now an official and institutional reality, as the licence to operate the zeolite quarry has been granted. After years of a national struggle, we are witnessing the liberation of Greek Zeolite from bureaucracy. Now, Greek Zeolite will be able to meet Greece’s needs whilst also reducing reliance on foreign Zeolite imports and, of course, subsequently becoming an export product to generate even greater revenue for Greece. There are more and more of us, all those who believed that this miracle could be achieved even under the current circumstances, and we would like to thank them for all the help they have provided to the Greek Zeolite project, even on a personallevel. This vision, this national vision, has now become a reality thanks to the faith of Georgios Georgiadis, who, despite the burden of his age, managed to set an example of perseverance.

WE RESOLVE to approve the environmental conditions and restrictions, the implementation of which is a prerequisite for the realisation of the project or activity and is the responsibility of the entity responsible for its execution and operation, for the exploitation of a zeolite quarry covering an area of 83,427.30 m² by the company OLYMPOS S.A., situated at the ‘Kokkalo’ site, Petrota Post Office, Municipality of Orestiada, Regional Unit of Evros. Extraction will take place in three independent open-cast horizontal excavations, which will ultimately lead to the creation of four open pits of limited dimensions.
