Greek wine produced using zeolite in the vineyard ranks among the world’s top 20 for 2023
One of the wines produced in the mountain vineyards of the Holy Monastery of Voutsa, which is produced using zeolite in the cultivation process, has won a top award.
Imperator Lacrima is the only Greek wine to be ranked amongst the world’s best for 2023 by Asia Import.
Imperator Lacrima is produced from vineyards cultivated with zeolite, specifically by incorporating 1.2 kg of zeolite with a particle size of 0.8–2.5 into each root.
It is a wine with a brilliant yellow-green colour and soft reddish highlights. Delicate yet intense aromas are the main characteristics of the Gewürztraminer variety, with rose, lemon blossom and ripe peaches taking centre stage.
Fruity and balanced, harmonious and refreshing, with pronounced acidity, vigour and a long-lasting finish. Full-bodied with a subtle presence of alcohol. It pairs well with oily fish with intense flavours, Asian cuisine and smoked meats, whilst it can also be served with fresh fruit or even as an aperitif.
This accolade, beyond the momentum it generates – particularly in the export sector – also serves as recognition of the dedication and hard work of the people at Voutsa Monastery and its winery.
The list of the best wines for 2023 was compiled by Asia Import, following the tasting of thousands of wines in laboratories and at international exhibitions.
