Plasterboard with Danoline zeolite featuring Cleaneo technology from Knauf NEED A BREATH OF FRESH AIR? How’s the air in your building? Apart from simply being generally unpleasant, poor air quality in buildings can lead to headaches, fatigue and concentration problems. Studies show that we spend up to 90 per cent of our time indoors. So it’s vitally important that we maintain the quality of the air in buildings. But the air in many public and private buildings is heavily contaminated with toxic compounds and unpleasant odours. And the problem isn’t confined to offices and residential buildings. Many schools suffer from ... Read more

Silver Zeolite Composites-Based LEDs: A Novel Solid-State Lighting Approach [Thesis]
Silver Zeolite Composites-Based LEDs: A Novel Solid-State Lighting Approach Abstract Silver clusters incorporated in a zeolite matrix represent a promising alternative for rare earth phosphors, organic dyes, and quantum dots as emitters in organic and hybrid organic/inorganic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). Compared to other existing types of emitters, they combine an excellent stability to oxygen and humidity with a high luminescence quantum yield and color tunability. This study reports on the first use of these silver exchanged zeolites embedded in polyvinyl carbazole (PVK), which is expected to act as a conducting matrix, as emitters in a single-layer OLED. It is demonstrated ... Read more

Licence granted for the extraction of Greek zeolite – N. Lygeros
Following years of campaigning to promote the use of Greek zeolite, an official licence has been granted to operate the quarry for this industrial mineral, on a public plot of 83.4273 stremmata, at Kokkalo Petrotwn in the municipality of Orestiada, Evros, to Olympus S.A. The decision was taken by the Ministry of Environment and Energy on 20 February 2017 and bears the reference number: ΔΜΕΒΟ-Β/Φ6.11.7/171440/315. In practical terms, this means that we are moving not only into a new phase for zeolite, but into a whole new cycle. This is because it will be the first time in Greece’s history ... Read more

Zeolite for a canary in Nea Orestiada
The canary is a songbird of the order Passeriformes and belongs to the family Fringillidae. The official name of the domestic canary is *Sirinus canaria domesticus*. History Canaries were introduced to Spain in the 15th century following the Spanish conquest of the Canary Islands. Following a shipping accident, a large consignment of canaries escaped and soon spread throughout Europe. It is also possible that the canary is descended from the wild canary (Serinus canaria canaria), which is native to the Canary Islands, Madeira, the Azores, Tenerife and other locations. Varieties Domestic canary Canaries are divided into three main categories: Dutch ... Read more
