Zeolite in Aquaculture
Which zeolite should you choose? – Short Video
zeolite is a natural mineral with many applications, but its origin and processing play an important role in determining where it is best used. Different grades can be used in agriculture 🌱, livestock farming 🐄 or in more specialised applications. Did you know that not all zeolites are the same? 🤔
The history of Greek zeolite: from antiquity to the present day
zeolite, this unique volcanic mineral with its remarkable purifying and pollutant-binding properties, is nothing new in Greece. The earliest references to the use of zeolite date back to antiquity, when the Greeks harnessed the power of natural rocks for hygiene, food storage and water purification. Today, Greek zeolite, particularly that from the region of Thrace, is internationally recognised for its purity and its clinoptilolite composition. A material that bridges ancient wisdom with modern applications — from agriculture and livestock farming to detoxification and environmental protection. Read more on the greekzeolite.com portal

In vitro comparison of zeolite (clinoptilolite) and activated carbon as ammonia absorbents in fish farming – In vitro Comparison of Zeolite (Clinoptilolite) and Activated Carbon as Ammonia Absorbants in Fish Culture
In vitro comparison of zeolite (clinoptilolite) and activated carbon as ammonia absorbents in fish farming – In vitro Comparison of Zeolite (Clinoptilolite) and Activated Carbon as Ammonia Absorbants in Fish Culture H. Emadi, J.E. Nezhad and H. Pourbagher Abstract Conditioned activated carbon was compared with zeolite (clinoptilolite) at different salinities, total ammonia nitrogen (TAN) levels and time intervals. The dosages of both materials were the same, i.e. 10 ppt. Different salinities ranging from 0 to 30 ppt were prepared in 24 three-litre plastic buckets. Concentrations of 1, 3 and 5 ppm TAN were added to the buckets. The trend in ... Read more

Licence granted for the extraction of Greek zeolite – N. Lygeros
Following years of campaigning to promote the use of Greek zeolite, an official licence has been granted to operate the quarry for this industrial mineral, on a public plot of 83.4273 stremmata, at Kokkalo Petrotwn in the municipality of Orestiada, Evros, to Olympus S.A. The decision was taken by the Ministry of Environment and Energy on 20 February 2017 and bears the reference number: ΔΜΕΒΟ-Β/Φ6.11.7/171440/315. In practical terms, this means that we are moving not only into a new phase for zeolite, but into a whole new cycle. This is because it will be the first time in Greece’s history ... Read more
