The Evros floods and zeolite – N. Lygeros
The Evros floods and zeolite – N. Lygeros The Evros floods and zeolite – N. Lygeros The Evros floods, with all the problems they cause for farmers, do have the merit of raising awareness even amongst our most indifferent citizens and our most incompetent politicians. Now everyone is up in arms against the river and all the substances it carries, which are destroying not only the crops but all the fields as well. The problem is that no one is proposing a specific solution to the problems that arise. Because, in fact, a solution does exist – and indeed right ... Read more
Inertia and inaction – N. Lygeros
Inertia and inaction – N. Lygeros. At the moment, we are witnessing a great deal of inaction and inactivity, as if everyone were in a state of limbo. Many have not yet realised what has happened, what is happening and what will happen. Some expect nothing at all any more, whilst others expect everything. The question is: why should we wait? When has waiting ever done our country any good? Quite simply: never! It is therefore important that we break out of this inertia and inaction, not merely to claim that we are taking steps, but to create a framework ... Read more

Chemical analysis of Greek zeolite – N. Lygeros
Chemical analysis of Greek zeolite – N. Lygeros | Zeolife.gr As we are now entering a new phase for Greek zeolite, it is good to have technical data rather than just estimates, as we can carry out XRD and EDX measurements that enable us to avoid generalisations. First and foremost, we should note that the zeolite variety we are examining within the zeolitic tuff is clinoptilolite, and its formula is as follows: (Na,K,Ca)₂₋₃Al₃(Al,Si)₂Si₁₃O₃₆·12H₂O. Zeolites generally contain silicon (Si) and aluminium (Al). Clinoptilolite, however, is additionally characterised by the following elements: Na, K, Ca. Consequently, these are present in the chemical analysis ... Read more
It is essential to be informed about zeolite – N. Lygeros
Information on zeolite is essential – N. Lygeros Many politicians need to be informed about zeolite, as they still believe that we are embroiled in legal disputes over its extraction in Northern Evros. Not only are they unaware of the facts, but they are also discussing the matter publicly, and their lack of knowledge of the practical details is glaringly obvious. It is therefore important for them to realise that there are no longer any legal issues and that a technical licence has already been granted. Consequently, the road construction and landscaping studies have already been submitted, and we are ... Read more
When everyone is preoccupied with trivial matters – Nikos Lygeros
When everyone is preoccupied with trivial matters, they are under the impression that they are actually doing something. Simply because they agree with one another, and that satisfies their sense of self. Some want their position, whilst others want to hold on to it. In fact, they speak earnestly about themselves and are held in high regard, as if they were nothing before, as if they didn’t even exist. And they want us to believe that they are genuinely concerned with our issues. Yet our issues are simple and do not concern any government, but only our homeland. For some ... Read more
When you create something – Nikos Lygeros
When you produce work, you do not fear criticism, because you know your own worth and carry on undeterred. For your role is clear if you love your people and your homeland. And if you have set yourself the goal of securing the Greek Exclusive Economic Zone for them, it doesn’t matter where you are, as you know what you must do. And every obstacle is a way to overcome your personal problems and devote yourself to the national issues that concern you in practice because of your Hellenism. So, if you’re already involved in issues such as the Greek ... Read more
Thrace’s zeolite is not a political issue – Nikos Lygeros
Thrace’s zeolite is not a political issue. And if there are any petty politicians and party hacks trying to delay or stop its exploitation in our homeland, they’ll simply get a taste of their own medicine. Because Thrace needs zeolite to bring about change and open up real prospects for the future. We have absolutely no need for ‘colourful’ MPs who have no idea what’s going on and haven’t even been briefed on zeolite because they’re so busy maintaining good neighbourly relations. Having lackeys at local level doesn’t bother us, as it has always been that way throughout our history. ... Read more
zeolite and the future of farmers – Nikos Lygeros
zeolite and the future of farmers – Nikos Lygeros At this stage and in the current climate, everyone is trying, in one way or another, to reach out to farmers in order to secure their votes. And they think, of course, that our farmers are fools and will fall for their attempts to curry favour. In reality, it would be better for all of us if these candidates were properly informed about zeolite – and especially about the situation in Greece and what stage we’re at – so that they can discuss it with farmers, who, by putting it into ...
