Zeolite as a Potential Medium for Ammonium Recovery and Second Cheese Whey Treatment

The efficiency of natural zeolite to remove ammonium from artificial wastewater (ammonium aqueous solutions) and to treat second cheese whey was examined, aiming to recover nitrogen nutrients that can be used for further applications, such as slow-release fertilizers. Sorption experiments were performed using artificial wastewater and zeolite of different granulometries (i.e., 0.71–1.0, 1.8–2.0, 2.0–2.8, 2.8–4.0, and 4.0–5.0 mm). The granulometry of the zeolite had no significant effect on its ability to absorb ammonium. Nevertheless, smaller particles (0.71–1.0 mm) exhibited quicker NH4+-N adsorption rates of up to 93.0% in the first 10 min. Zeolite as a Potential Medium for Ammonium Recovery ... Read more

Zeolite for established trees – the correct way to incorporate it

Read more

EcoPlant® – A liquid, concentrated soil improver for agriculture

EcoPlant® – Boost your yields – An eco-friendly, safe, non-toxic product. What is it? EcoPlant® is an innovative liquid solution derived from microbial fermentation, produced through a new generation of microbial fermentation using nanobiotechnology. Various sugars, such as sucrose, glucose, fructose, galactose and glycerine, are used in this fermentation process. Other pure, renewable, organic nutrients authorised for use as food are also utilised. It is rich in nutritional enhancers, such as trace elements (iron, zinc, manganese, cobalt) and minerals (potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, biomass, vitamins, amino acids). It acts as a carrier of trace elements and minerals to plants, due ... Read more

Zeolite for young trees – the correct way to incorporate it

Zeolite for young trees? What is the best way to incorporate it? Many growers are now incorporating natural zeolite into every new tree planting. In this context, there are many opinions on how zeolite should be incorporated. There are also many videos online demonstrating various methods of incorporation.  For example, adding it to the planting hole – in a single layer, in several layers, at the bottom, around the tree, and many other ways. In theory, zeolite, however it is incorporated, can only have a positive effect. This is simply because it has nothing to ‘give’ but merely manages whatever ... Read more

Zeolites and the conservation of nutrients and water [Thesis]

Zeolite: conserving nutrients and water. Read the article below to find out how zeolite helps conserve nutrients and water and promotes sustainable agriculture. Increasing urbanisation, water scarcity and the demand for more food require more efficient water irrigation. At the same time, they necessitate the application of more fertilisers. Retaining nutrients and water in agricultural soils leads to significantly higher yields. By the same token, it also prevents the pollution of water resources. According to a new study, one of the most effective solutions appears to be the use of natural zeolite.  zeolite is environmentally friendly, readily available and inexpensive, ... Read more

... A vegetable garden with traditional seeds, using zeolite and diatomaceous earth, in Avanta, Alexandroupoli [Photos]

A vegetable garden with traditional seeds, using zeolite and diatomaceous earth, in Avanta, Alexandroupoli. Organic cultivation without pesticides or fertilisers, using only natural minerals! In the photos below, we can see zeolite and diatomaceous earth being applied to a vegetable garden. In this vegetable garden, only traditional seeds of tomatoes, peppers and aubergines have been used, grown entirely organically. In this instance, a total of 450 kg of fine gravel has also been incorporated into the soil. Organic manure has been used as fertiliser. The effect of zeolite on the metabolism and reproduction of ducks

The effect of zeolite on the metabolism and reproduction of ducks The effect of zeolite on the metabolism and reproduction of ducks appears to be entirely positive, according to a new study. The research was carried out by three scientists from Russia, in collaboration with the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Processing Industry in the Orenburg region, in the Republic of Bashkortostan. The aim of the study was to examine the digestibility of the feed as well as the reproductive capabilities of ducks fed a mixed diet enriched with zeolite. The safety of adding zeolite to the feed was ... Read more

Zeolite and urea = more nitrogen in the soil + increased yield

Zeolite and urea = more nitrogen in the soil + increased yield: this is the experimental result of an interesting study by three scientists from Malaysia. The study was carried out at Universiti Putra by Omar Latifah, Osumanu Haruna Ahmeda and Nik Muhamad Abdul Majid in collaboration with the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education. The experiment Zeolite and urea = more nitrogen in the soil + increased yield The high cost of nitrogen fertilisers leads to practices aimed at optimising their use, whilst minimising nitrate losses. Ammonium adsorption inhibits the loss of nitrogen in the form of nitrate, thereby increasing ... Read more

Significant results from the use of zeolite in compost with earthworms [research]

Significant results from the use of zeolite in compost with earthworms [research] Researchers have discovered significant results from the use of zeolite in compost with earthworms in a study in the field of environmental science published on 22018. The experiment Specifically, Zarrabi, M., Mohammadi, A.A. and Al-Musawi, T.J. studied the effect of adding different proportions of natural zeolite, specifically clinoptilolite (5 and 10 per cent), to compost containing earthworms and food waste. The evolution of the physicochemical characteristics of the final product, the growth of the earthworms and the maturation time of the final vermicompost were investigated. The final result ...
