Zeolite in Livestock
The countdown has begun for the extraction of Thracian zeolite by the Petroton-based company, ‘Lithoxoos’.
The technical study for the operation of the quarry at Petrota, in the municipality of Nea Orestiada in the prefecture of Evros, for the extraction of Greek zeolite has been approved. The approval covers approximately 30 stremmata in the ‘Palioklissi’ area, north-west of the village of Petrota.
The environmental permit for Thrace zeolite has been approved by Lithoxos S.A.
Publication regarding the approval of environmental conditions for the extraction of zeolite in Thrace by Lithoxos S.A., in the Palioklisi area of Petrota, Evros.
New findings on Greek zeolite and promising news for the coming year
New developments regarding Greek zeolite and promising prospects for the coming year have been brought about by two new decisions from the Regional Council and the Directorate of Environment and Spatial Planning of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.

Diatomite – The definitive solution to the problem of chicken mites in poultry houses
The definitive solution to the problem of chicken mites is to scatter the mineral material diatomite (or alternatively ‘diatomaceous earth’ and ‘DE’ in English) throughout the area. This measure completely eradicates all parasites in the poultry house in a wholly natural way, and the material applied to the area is a natural mineral that is harmless to birds and humans.
zeolite as a means of ammonium recovery and secondary processing of cheese whey. [Study]
A study by the University of Patras, which investigated the effectiveness of natural zeolite in removing ammonium ions from synthetic wastewater and from whey.
The effect of zeolite on the metabolism and reproduction of ducks
The effect of zeolite on the metabolism and reproduction of ducks The effect of zeolite on the metabolism and reproduction of ducks appears to be entirely positive, according to a new study. The research was carried out by three scientists from Russia, in collaboration with the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Processing Industry in the Orenburg region, in the Republic of Bashkortostan. The aim of the study was to examine the digestibility of the feed as well as the reproductive capabilities of ducks fed a mixed diet enriched with zeolite. The safety of adding zeolite to the feed was ... Read more
Effects of clinoptilolite or zeolite A in the diets of growing pigs – Effects of Zeolite A or Clinoptilolite in Diets of Growing Swine
Gerald C Sharon – University of Minnesota Twin Cities, Pao K Ku – Michigan State University, E R Miller, M T Yokoyama Abstract Growth, nutrient balance, plasma ammonia levels and urinary p-cresol excretion were evaluated in growing pigs fed diets containing various levels of zeolite A or clinoptilolite. In one growth trial, crossbred pigs averaging 25 kg initial body weight were assigned to diets containing no zeolite, .3% zeolite A or .5% clinoptilolite for a 6-wk growing phase trial. Average daily gain (ADG), average daily feed intake (ADF) and feed/gain (F/G) were unaffected by supplementation of either zeolite in the diet, but metabolizable energy ... Read more
