In modern agriculture, the need for sustainable and cost-effective solutions for crop fertilisation is more pressing than ever. With the skyrocketing cost of inorganic fertilisers and their environmental impact, scientists are increasingly turning to alternative solutions. A recent Greek study sheds light on the combination of sewage sludge with natural zeolite, revealing impressive results for…
The need for renewable energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Biogas is a solution that utilises organic waste to produce energy. To be used efficiently, biogas must be upgraded to biomethane. According to this study, one of the most modern upgrading methods is Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) technology, in which zeolites play a significant role….
New strategies and commercial products must be developed to improve animal health and performance, based on their safety, efficacy and cost-effectiveness. The aim of this study is to summarize the beneficial effects of currently used alternatives to in-feed antibiotics, i.e. probiotics, prebiotics, organic acids, phytogenic compound sand zeolites on health and growth performance in farm animals (swine, poultry and ruminants)
Effects of Supplementation of Natural Zeolite on Intake, Digestion, Ruminal Fermentation, and Lactational Performance of Dairy Cows
Abstract Effective treatment of chronic illness resulting from the long-term buildup of heavymetals in the body, such as chelation therapy, presents numerous clinical challenges, includingundesirable side effects and unpredictable efficacy. Use of a naturally occurring zeolite, clinoptilolite, to remove these toxic substances may offer an efficacious and safe alternative to thetraditional approaches. This study was…
Abstract Unique and outstanding physical and chemical properties of zeolite materials make them extremely useful in a variety of applications including agronomy, ecology, manufacturing, and industrial processes. Recently, a more specific application of one naturally occurring zeolite material, clinoptilolite, has been widely studied in veterinary and human medicine. Due to a number of positive effects…
Zeolite or urea-impregnated zeolite as slow-release ammonia or SRU agent was potential in decreasing ruminal ammonia, pH, acetate to propionate ratio, methane, and maintaining low plasma urea within its physiological range.

In the most recently published study by the University of Patras, the effectiveness of natural zeolite in removing ammonium ions from synthetic wastewater and from secondary whey was investigated.
Subsequently, the use of this zeolite as a fertiliser in wheat cultivation was investigated, given that zeolite can release bound nitrogen into the soil.

A study by the University of Patras, which investigated the effectiveness of natural zeolite in removing ammonium ions from synthetic wastewater and from whey.
The efficiency of natural zeolite to remove ammonium from artificial wastewater (ammonium aqueous solutions) and to treat second cheese whey was examined, aiming to recover nitrogen nutrients that can be used for further applications, such as slow-release fertilizers. Sorption experiments were performed using artificial wastewater and zeolite of different granulometries (i.e., 0.71–1.0, 1.8–2.0, 2.0–2.8, 2.8–4.0,…

Received: 10-09-2015 Accepted: 25-02-2016 DOI:10.18805/ar.v0iof.9627 ABSTRACT In many parts of the world food security is being affected due to declining quality and/or quantity of the soil resource base and climate change. In this context, farming with zeolites has drawn attention. Zeolites…
