2015 Student Trade Fair – Zeosoap Therapy

We were there at the 2015 Student Trade Fair organised by the Youth Entrepreneurship Association | Junior Achievement Greece, alongside ‘Bee Pretty’ from Glafki High School in Xanthi and ‘Zeosoap Therapy’ from Didymoteicho High School.

The exhibition, organised for the ninth year running by SEN | JA Greece, took place on 6 March 2015 at the Mediterranean Cosmos shopping centre, in Thessaloniki, with 29 virtual enterprises from schools across Northern Greece taking part.

This year, two schools in Thrace are taking part in the ‘Simulated Business’ programme, a global educational programme for sixth-form students: the second-year class of the Glafki General Sixth Form College in Xanthi with their virtual enterprise Bee Pretty, and the first-year class of the Didymoteicho General Sixth Form College with their virtual enterprise Zeosoap Therapy, respectively.

Bee Pretty produces a range of handmade balms made from beeswax, olive oil and essential oils, based on a traditional recipe from the mountainous region of the Prefecture of Xanthi, whilst Zeosoap Therapy produces handmade soaps using the cold process method of slow curing, made from Makris variety olive oil and natural zeolite. In both cases, the aim of the students’ virtual businesses is to showcase the natural resources of Thrace.

At the exhibition, the student-entrepreneurs had the opportunity to work in teams, showcase and sell their products to visitors, to explore business ideas and exchange views and experiences with pupils from the participating schools. They also had the chance to present their work, from the conception of the business idea, through to drawing up the business plan and the organisational structure, right up to the financial details of their business, to an evaluation panel, as the programme also has a competitive element.  The winning business, which will be selected from among the 94 participating from schools across the country, will represent Greece at the international exhibition organised by Junior Achievement Europe, which will take place at the end of the school year in Zurich.
