Zeolites in agriculture, environmental protection and construction – International scientific conference – Lublin, Poland

26th – 27th February 2015, Lublin, Poland INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE financed by the Project No IPBU.01.01.00-06.570/11-00: “Developing an innovative model of the cross-border use of zeolitic tuff”

Zeolites may fuel efficient hydrocarbon refining processes – “Predicted” zeolites may fuel efficient processes

“Predicted” zeolites may fuel efficient processes | Zeolite.gr Scientists at Rice Univ. and the Univ. of Minnesota have identified synthetic materials that may purify ethanol more efficiently and greatly improve the separation of long-chain hydrocarbons in petroleum refining. The results show that predictive modeling of synthetic zeolites, a technique pioneered by Rice bioengineer Michael Deem, is highly effective and can help solve some of the most challenging problems facing industries that require efficient ways to separate or catalyze materials. Deem is co-author of a new study led by Univ. of Minnesota chemist Ilja Siepmann that appeared in Nature Communications. Zeolites ... Read more

An Introduction to Zeolology – N. Lygeros

An Introduction to Zeolytics – N. Lygeros When we begin to understand just how important zeolite is in agriculture and realise that we are preparing to move on to the stage of zeoponisation, we gradually create a framework that serves as an introduction to zeolite farming. This is because we see that farmers need practical advice on applying and incorporating zeolite into their crops. zeolite is not a panacea, but an effective tool for farmers, not only in theory but also in practice. We therefore need people who specialise in zeolite so that they can answer all the practical questions ... Read more

27th German Zeolite Conference – 27. Deutsche Zeolith-Tagung

27th German Zeolite Conference – 27th Deutsche Zeolith-Tagung The 27th German Zeolite Conference will take place alongside the annual meeting of the Adsorption Section from 25 to 27 February 2015 on the Haarentor Campus of the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg. Organised by DECHEMA e.V., it is hosted by the Department of Technical Chemistry at the Institute of Chemistry, in collaboration with the ProcessNet specialist groups on Zeolites and Adsorption. In addition to zeolites, which historically gave this annual conference its name, the range of porous materials with defined structures has now expanded considerably. Microporous metal-organical framework compounds (crystalline coordination ... Read more

Panasonic Develops ‘Photocatalytic Water Purification Technology’ – Creating Drinkable Water with Sunlight and Photocatalysts

In India, approximately 70 per cent of the population uses water not from taps but primarily that from under the ground. Leaching into it are harmful substances such as agrochemical residues, the arsenic of Himalayan ore veins, and hexavalent chromium produced from leather tanneries. This contamination has come to be seen as a societal problem, having caused health problems for as many as 50 million people. To solve such drinking-water issues worldwide, Panasonic has developed its own photocatalytic water purification technology. This technology uses photocatalysts and the UV rays from sunlight to detoxify polluted water* at high speeds, creating safe ... Read more

When everyone is preoccupied with trivial matters – Nikos Lygeros

When everyone is preoccupied with trivial matters, they are under the impression that they are actually doing something. Simply because they agree with one another, and that satisfies their sense of self. Some want their position, whilst others want to hold on to it. In fact, they speak earnestly about themselves and are held in high regard, as if they were nothing before, as if they didn’t even exist. And they want us to believe that they are genuinely concerned with our issues. Yet our issues are simple and do not concern any government, but only our homeland. For some ... Read more

When you create something – Nikos Lygeros

When you produce work, you do not fear criticism, because you know your own worth and carry on undeterred. For your role is clear if you love your people and your homeland. And if you have set yourself the goal of securing the Greek Exclusive Economic Zone for them, it doesn’t matter where you are, as you know what you must do. And every obstacle is a way to overcome your personal problems and devote yourself to the national issues that concern you in practice because of your Hellenism. So, if you’re already involved in issues such as the Greek ... Read more
