From words to deeds – N. Lygeros
During the negotiations, we saw plenty of talk but little action. Now we have very few opportunities to take meaningful action. And as it is actions, not gestures, that determine our course, these must be taken with great care to ensure they have a strategic foundation, because we must then support them in practice. We are not now dealing with party statements, proposals or counter-proposals, but with national decisions being taken against a backdrop of retrenchment. These actions are therefore decisive. Consequently, we must not view them as proof that a crisis has ended, but as the beginning of a new reality that will form the starting point for the future of our country. It is within this framework that we must proceed regarding the delimitation of the Greek EEZ, the assessment of the second offshore block, the East Med pipeline, the EuroAsia Interconnector, and Greek zeolite. All these issues are of strategic importance and national value, and they offer constructive solutions to economic problems that cannot be resolved by economic means alone. Does it therefore make sense to confine ourselves to an exclusively economic framework without incorporating it into our geopolitical strategy as part of a comprehensive national strategy?
