Evaluation of the potential of Zeolite as a soil conditioner for two Zambian Soils – Makungwe, Mirriam. Degree: 2015, University of Zambia Poor nutrient and water holding capacities characterise highly weathered soils, thereby limiting soil productivity. Φορτωμένη η ατζέντα του Περιφερειάρχη Γιώργου Παυλίδη ο οποίος όπως όλοι γνωρίζουμε δουλεύει ασταμάτητα και μία τηλεφωνική επικοινωνία για μία καλημέρα έφτασε Σαβατιάτικα να ασχολείται με τρία πράγματα. Με τον αγωγό ΤΑΠ, τον ζεόλιθο και την κατασκευή των Ελληνικών μηχανημάτων που πρέπει πλέον να τύχουν της εμπιστοσύνης των Ελλήνων. Μας πληροφόρησε κατά την διάρκεια της επιστροφής του από την Καβάλα στο θέμα του αγωγού ΤΑΠ υπάρχουν κάποιες δυσκολίες στο να τελεσφορήσουν οι συζητήσεις όμως όπως τόνισε, η όλη διαδικασία είναι σε σωστό δρόμο. The presence of arsenic and heavy metals in drinking water sources poses a serious health risk due to chronic toxicological effects. Constructed wetlands have the potential to remove arsenic and heavy metals, but little is known about pollutant removal efficiency and reliability of wetlands for this task. This lab-scale study investigated the use of vertical subsurface flow constructed wetlands for removing arsenic, boron, copper, zinc, iron and manganese from synthetic wastewater. Gravel, limestone, zeolite and cocopeat were employed as wetland media. Ένας από τους τομείς εφαρμογής του ζεόλιθου που επιτρέπει μια κάθετη παραγωγή αλλά και μια αυξημένη αξία, είναι αυτός της Κοσμητολογίας/αισθητικής. Γνωρίζουμε ήδη πολλές εφαρμογές που εκμεταλλεύονται την ιδιότητα του μοριακού κόσκινου που έχει ο ζεόλιθος και μάλιστα ο κλινοπτιλόλιθος. Δεν πρέπει λοιπόν να περιοριστούμε στις εφαρμογές ειδικά όταν αυτές μπορούν να μεγιστοποιήσουν την αξιοποίηση. Η ιδιότητα του κλινοπτιλόλιθου να έχει δράση σε μοριακό επίπεδο μας επιτρέπει να σκεφτούμε εφαρμογές και μάλιστα πατέντες μέσω της χημείας δίχως όμως να έχουμε τις επιπτώσεις του τεχνητού.
